The Ponant fleet includes 12 ships that are specifically designed to welcome aboard a limited number of passengers. Guests can maintain their privacy and feel like they are on their own private yacht, The PONANT yachts cruise to iconic ports around the world, as well as secret harbors, accessible to smaller-sized ships. The state-of-the-art yachts are comprised of PONANT EXPLORERS with 92 cabins. PONANT SISTERSHIPS with 122 to 132 cabins, and the iconic LE PONANT with just 16 cabins. Plus, coming in 2021, the new polar exploration vessel LE COMONDANT CHARCOT with 135 cabins.
The Ponant Sisterships—Le Boréal, L’Austral, Le Soléal and Le Lyrial—epitomize our philosophy: small-capacity yachts perfect for fostering camaraderie, a unique atmosphere, and a subtle combination of luxury, privacy and well-being. Designed in France and built in Italy, each ship has its own color palette and motif, but all share in an elegantly understated aesthetic and European sensibility and craftsmanship.
All the ships are built with 132 cabins and suites for 264 passengers and 140 crew members.

Launched between 2018 and 2020 this new series of luxury expedition ships, the EXPLORERS, combine limited capacity, exceptional design, cutting-edge technology and respect for the environment. Each vessel bears the name of a French explorer who set off on adventures beyond the boundaries of the known world in search of new lands. Measuring 420 feet long with just 88 cabins (each with a private balcony) and four suites (each with a plate-glass window and private terrace), the smaller capacity of the new PONANT EXPLORERS offers an intimate atmosphere, while the 110 crew members provide professional and attentive service.

Le Commandant Charcot, the first PC2-class luxury polar cruise ship capable of sailing into the very heart of the ice. Thanks to this remarkable new ship, mythical destinations like the Geographic North Pole or Bellingshausen Sea are now available to our guests.
Entering service in 2021 sailing to the worlds most extreme locations in total comfort and luxury with only 135 staterooms and suites, and will run on electricity and liquified natural gas (NLG).

Le Ponant, a magical three-mast sailing yacht, has just 16 cabins, all decorated in a harmonious palette of maritime shades. The ship can welcome 32 passengers for 32 crew members. This casually chic yacht is appreciated for her small size and a design evoking the sea—including a sun deck, outdoor restaurant and direct access to the water from the marina platform. Just as on a private yacht, your extremely exclusive clients will sail with only a limited number of fellow guests who truly love the sea.

All-Inclusive Expeditions Everything is included on a PONANT expedition cruise*: Zodiac® outings and shore visits, excursions, lectures, gratuities and parkas and boot rentals (for polar expeditions). *All expeditions include Zodiac landings and some excursions, however on yacht cruises, optional shore excursions are offered at an additional fee.

Zodiac® Outings During expedition voyages, our fleet of Zodiac® crafts make landings ashore in remote, seldom-visited destinations safe and accessible, enabling guests to get as close as possible to ice and fauna. Our Zodiacs® are designed to accommodate small groups of 10 passengers and are easily accessible from the marina platform at the rear of our ships
PONANT views the cultures and traditions of local communities as precious treasures, and we are committed to indigenous populations and associations. When planning every one of our expedition cruises, we work closely with the indigenous populations and specialized Ethnologists. They are the ones who decide what each community wants to share from their cultures and environments.
